Due to the use of computerised lap counters and the new digital Scalextric systems available, sophisticated races can be set up and run. These range from a simple walk up and race, to a pre planned championship series.
First Past The Post
This is ideal for casual events where people can walk up and play as and when it suits them. We usually run over 10 laps, but it can be adjusted to a greater or lesser number depending on the amount of guests at the event, the first driver past the post wins.
Fastest Speed
The 10 laps are run as in the first past the post, but this time the highest average speed determines the winner.
Championship Series
This is designed for events with a more limited number of guests. The guest names are programmed into the race system and drivers are arranged into heats. The winners from each heat go through to the grand final. The final is then run over a greater number of laps to allow for the excitement to build. The grand champion is then awarded the cup (or whatever prize is arranged beforehand).
Fuel And Pit Stops
Using the new digital system, fuel consumption can be programmed into the race, each car must make a number of pit stops or it will stop when its fuel is exhausted, this can also be extended to take into account changing weather conditions, ie if it rains (simulated of course), the Formula 1 cars would need to make a pit stop to change tyres, otherwise the system will cut the power to an individual car to simulate having to drive slowly.
Again this is suited to events with more limited number of guests to allow time for more in depth instructions and a number of practice laps.
Long Term Events
The computerised race systems can store thousands of results. This opens up the possibility of running a series of events throughout the country with the heat winners meeting up for a grand finale. Perfect for promoting a brand or company.
